For the Love of Trees....

Hi Buds! If you’ve been around Soul Flower for a while, you probably know how much we love trees. And since Arbor Day is all about celebrating trees and the important role they play in our world, we thought it was a good time to look back at one of the ways Soul Flower has supported reforestation over the years.

Soul Flower partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to help offset the paper we used in our business. We worked hard to recycle and reuse paper, but our printed catalogs were a significant source of paper use. Beginning in 2008, we committed to planting two or more trees for every one tree used in catalog production. It made sense to us to help replenish what had been taken and support the restoration of our natural forests.

In 2009, we continued our efforts with the Arbor Day Foundation by supporting a project to plant 125,000 longleaf pine trees in Manchester State Forest in South Carolina. The longleaf restoration project was designed to help restore longleaf pine to its former natural range.

Later that year, another Soul Flower contribution supported pine plantings in Okaloacoochee Slough State Forest in south-central Florida.

Our printed catalogs may be part of Soul Flower history now, but our love for trees, nature, and finding more earth-friendly ways to do business is still very much a part of who we are.
