At Soul Flower, we’ve always had a soft spot for clothing with a story. And few things have more character than something made by giving existing materials a second life.
Upcycling takes fabric, clothing, and other materials that already exist and transforms them into something new. Instead of starting from scratch, makers get creative with what’s already here — turning forgotten fabrics and well-loved textiles into pieces worth wearing all over again.
Why We Love Upcycled Clothing
One of our favorite things about upcycled clothing is its individuality. Vintage fabrics, reclaimed textiles, and repurposed garments naturally vary, which means finished pieces can have their own colors, patterns, textures, and little quirks.
That uniqueness has always felt right at home at Soul Flower. We’ve never been much for looking like everybody else.
Upcycling can also help make better use of materials that might otherwise go to waste. Giving existing textiles another spin around the sun means getting more life out of resources that have already been produced.
A Little Soul Flower History
Over the years, we’ve carried some pretty memorable upcycled creations — from skirts made with vintage fabrics to tops transformed from thrifted shirts. The photos in this post are a little trip back through Soul Flower history and some of the creative, one-of-a-kind pieces that have passed through our shop.
These particular styles have long since come and gone, but our love for earth-friendly clothing, creative design, and doing things a little differently is still going strong.
