Folk Art Design

I would consider myself a creative person. In grade school I drew, years later I branched out and tackled sewing, design and embroidery. But with all areas of life there seems to be times of inspiration and times of… well, ruts. My creativity seems to be fickle at times, dependent on variables, locations, schedules, and simply inspiration. Some days I don’t even bother picking up a pencil or sitting down at my sewing machine because I’m just not feeling it. And when I do, everything I touch seems to turn out all wrong.

I read somewhere that you should create every day. If you sing, you sing. If you cook, you cook. If you write, you write. And if you draw, you draw. No matter what, you don’t let your inhibitions, limitations, or current mindset get in the way. You put your pencil to paper and let it out. Because you are still creating—you are creating something. Maybe not what you intended, maybe something you don’t even really like that much. But you are creating something that wasn’t there before. You are giving it life and giving yourself the experience and practice that someday might lead to even better things.

I personally love Andria’s Karma Krewe posts. She is so inspiring. She has a passion for yoga, meditation, and self-reflection, and finds the most scenic places to practice. There is something beautiful about someone who is so passionate about what they do. I respect that—it inspires me and makes me want to work on what I love more: drawing. I haven’t drawn in ages, so today I put on my Folk Art Organic Long Sleeve and, drawing inspiration from its mystical hand-drawn graphic and Andria’s yoga poses, I drew. The human body is amazing—the muscles, the shape, and the form of someone who is strong and connected with their body are incredibly inspiring.
