I really want to see William Elliot Whitmore! I love that he is an Iowa native and still lives here. He’s a very interesting person and has such a great soulful voice. Also, I’ll just miss hearing all the great performers! 80/35 is just a great event for Des Moines!

What most will I miss about 8035? The atmosphere, meeting new people, the music, and most of all the beautiful voice of Zola Jesus!

I can’t make it this year (darn the price of plane tickets/gasoline!), and I will especially miss meeting all the wonderful folks which congregate for events such as 80/35. Some of the longest lasting friendships (despite the long distances) I’ve ever made were born in the festival environment; it’s a shame to think of the people I could be meeting if I were able to be there!

What will I miss most about 8035?
I’ll miss all the lovely people that I could have met and shared my hoop with, I’ll also miss the welcome atmosphere and the feeling of home festival inspires. There’s nothing more beautiful than people brought together by music.

To tell you the truth, I’m not entirely sure what 80/35 is really all about, but I’m sure if it’s got anything it do with Soulflower, it would be amazing. I can tell you, however, when I don’t go to a good festival here in Australia I really feel like I’ve missed out on some mind blowing music, fun fun people and a great atmosphere. I love the feeling of knowing everyone around you is the same as you, have at least one interest in common and you feel like you finally fit in somewhere.

I love music fests but alas I am way out west in Utah and wont be going to 80/35. I have already attended Desert Rocks this summer in Moab, Utah. It was amazing! I also will be dancing at Uncle Uncannys music fest that will be located less then 15 miles from my home in Heber City, Utah! Wow keeping it local.
My favorite part of attending events of this nature is being able to move in the same rhythm with a diverse crowd of folks I may never get a chance to be with again but we will always share an intense moment of music.

What I’ll miss most about the festival is having a summer vacation. Exploring new places and people, wondering around trying to find an appropriate place to go to the restroom, and dancing like there is no tomorrow!

What I’ll miss most is, well the whole thing… I’m not going.:-( But I would have loved to attend, mostly for the music & the people. Music makes the world go ’round. Especially when you have lovely people to share it with.

The one thing that I am looking forward to this year is Modest Mouse and DJ DIVERSE. There is a great line-up of performers this year. Every year it gets better and better, I can just imagine how much talent there will be next year.

Ooooh wish I could go and meet all the other soul flowers! I will miss showing off my new decoration. At 40 years young, I pierced my nose. Did it the old fashioned way; shoved it in myself. (Can anyone say “mid-life crisis”? lol) And I love art, music, poetry anything like that, so the music would be such a treat! It would be an awesome experience!

We will just be getting back from seeing our wonderful daughter graduate from basic training for the National Guard. She is ready to serve her country where she is needed. Floods, tornadoes, ice storms, the works. When she first started talking about going in, it was right after Katrina, she was too young, and she said to me, “Mom, I want to be one of those helping to rescue people and animals from rooftops. I want to be one of those that give out clean water and food to hard hit areas when natural disasters strike. We should have gotten there sooner and I can’t go yet!” If she could have, she would have. We are very proud of her (how could we not be?). So we will just be getting home from that.

We are in Arkansas, so remember Arkansans, the next time you are in a flood, tornado, ice storm, etc. and the guard comes to help, MY daughter may be among them, giving you everything she can to keep you safe and well. Even if it isn’t she that helps YOU, thank the ones that do!

I hope everyone has a super time!

I am looking forward to so many great bands playing this year. One of my favorites, Dawes, will be most exciting for me. I’m also looking forward to just being around a bunch of people who enjoy this music as much as I do.

I am really pumped for alot of the acts booked this year including Earl Greyhound, The Heavy, Modest Mouse, and a lot of the local DSM bands. Being from Des Moines, I am also really excited to see the music economy start to take off here, and think its really neat to see people from across the country come to my hometown for a great festival.

I am looking forward to EVERYTHING about the 80/35, i.e. the music, the dancing, the people, basically every aspect of the atmosphere! I guess, I could narrow it down to most looking forward to Modest Mouse. I cried [literally cried tears] with excitement when I found out they were headlining.

I’m fortunate to live in the DM area, and really excited for events like this. I have 2 little ones that I take with me everywhere I go. I have a passion for and appreciate TRUE music. I can honestly say, I listen to EVERYTHING, including…country. Blue Grass is right on! I’m excited that Modest Mouse will be there this year, however, I must say the thing I’m most looking forward to, is a weekend packed full of music, fun, old and new friends, and whatever weather Mother Nature brings. If it rains, then let’s jump in puddles! Nothing beats the outdoors with my kids. Add music to our day, and I’m in Heaven!
