The military style peace cap reminds me of my stepfather’s days in Vietnam. When he came home he wore one very similar. Evokes good memories, he made it home.

I love the Sage Daytripper Patch Pants…they make me think of something Grace Slick or Janis Joplin would wear. They look so comfortable and have that hand-made appeal ^_^

I think it is beautiful and colorful just like Janis Joplin. It is also versitile like Janis was. The dress takes bits of history and makes it one like Janis did. I just love this dress!

the brown and orange feelin’ groovy tie-dye wrap speaks to me because its the typical tie-dye with and earthy feel to it because of the calm colors. Its trendy yet looks comfy. its a chillin wrap which i think janis would have dug and worn all the time!

I am a huge fan of Soul-flower!! I would say that my favorite
-iconic- band is Led Zeppelin. I love the album cover for the untitled #4 album (referred to as Led Zeppelin IV). There are so many clothes that remind me of that cover but I think that the Harmony Dress fits. Its colors are peaceful. That is how I see that album cover. Just a man walking along in the peace of outdoors!

My inspiration is Stevie Nicks! She is still rocking and has amazing style and sass. I went to a Fleetwood Mac concert last year and was so drawn to her outfits that she changed a few times during the show. I love how her clothing flows over her body and also shows her shape. That is why I choose this dress.

The clay beads and the Playing in the Bandana skirt remind me of Janis’s spirit and her appearance. She was and is the hippie pin-up girl/poster love child. She loved beads and dirty red bandanas…(with or without harpoons) these threads would have allowed her to sing and play guitar freely on stage and on her many travels across the world whilst trying to fight her personal demons. Her spirit was free and pure and it lives on today in her music. “Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose”

These Kurta shirts were worn ALL the time. As comfy today as they were in the 60’s & 70’s … I own 3, and plan to purchase more colors.
Cool enough to wear during the summer, add a shirt underneath in the winter. And add beads !!

So many of your threads remind me of something that Janis would totally rock out. I’m sure if she was still around today she’d love you guys just as much as we all do!
To pick just one, I’ll say the Butterfly Kisses Kurta would be a top she would love. The beautiful embroidery and flowy-ness of this kurta would have her song ‘Summertime’ playing over and over in my head, even well into the cold of winter, spreading her vibe year round!!

Makes me think of Melanies song Lay Down “…so raise, your candle high, cuz if you dont we could stay black against the night. You got to raise them higher again, and if you do we could stay dry against the rain…”

It feels like I can taste, feel and smell the atmosphere of a time, that once were, but newer will be forgotten

This skirt/top is flamboyant, cheerful, and groovy just like Janis. It’s full of style and elegance. It’s versatile and eye catching. My favorite is the Dazy May Mini Dress. It reminds me of hot summer monsoon nights in Arizona when Santana used to visit the Pima fairgrounds in Tucson. Perfect sexy summer dress to dance all night in on the grass while watching lightening all around in the far distance. Yup definitely evokes memories of Santana and his music.

I always think of the Merry Pranksters when I see the Moths tunic tee!! its so subtle yet screams trippy with the 2 different colored moths opposite of each other. I can only imagine this would be something they would enjoy to see on their trip across the US in in 1964. 1 moth turned into 2 in psychedelic color πŸ˜‰

Much of the clothing’s art work reminds me of Micheal Bowen. He is by far my favorite artist from that time. Enthusiasm, life, and a story with every poster, picture, or print. That’s why I picked the “leaf in flight” tee and the “hey jute” hat. They seem like pieces Bowen would produce πŸ™‚

I LOVE this dress. It has such a free spirit flowing feel to it. I picture running through a field of tall grass or wheat. It has a earthy, soulful look to it but also a fun loving vibes as well. I have such a love and interest for the times of the 60’s, even with the bad, there was so much good of a revolution, wish I could’ve been part of those monumental times. It would be perfect to live this summer in something that has such a “Summer of Love” feel to it. It wouldn’t be a Dead show like it was in ’67 but going to the Phish show will probably be as close as I can get to that. Amazing work!! πŸ™‚

    The Woodstock Tee

I love this shirt because it reminds me off the time I often wish I could have been a part off. My sister often, very often, tells me I was born 40 years too late. She says I should have been born in the 1940’s so I could have been in my 20’s when the 60’s rolled around. This place in time often makes me sad. Sad, that we have forgotten the message that the people of that time tried to teach us. And, I hope one day we can remember that wonderful message of world peace and treating everyone equally no matter their color, race, or up-bringing and that we can teach that beautiful message to our children so that maybe when they become the world leaders they can fix our screw ups and make the world a better place.

The simple livin’ dress evokes images of Dusty Springfield and a “son of a preacher man” walkin’ out the backyard and through the meadow. Dusty wore some of the beautiful dresses! I’m sure the simple livin’ dress would be the one she would choose for an afternoon rendezvous with her lover.
