The first thing that attracted me to yoga was a handstand. Call it shallow, but all I saw was effortless strength and grace. From that moment forward I practiced every, single day. Falling, sweating and failing forward. About half way through my inversion journey I realized yoga was all about body awareness and connecting your breath with your movements. I stopped focusing on being able to hold a handstand, and instead turned to the basics. Rooting myself through sun salutations and warrior poses. When I came back to handstand I didn’t have an end goal or an ultimatum.
